What is the best kind of fishing line to for bass fishing with a spinning reel?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 11 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
I'm realatively new to fishing and I was just wanting some help and thanks in advance for any info.

I use Stren fishing line. I use 4lbs.test with my ultra light reels and rods, 6lbs.test on my light reels, 8lbs.test on my medium reels and rods, and 12lbs. test on my heavy reels and rods. The only time I use the 12lbs is when fishing heavy brush or stick ups. The lighter the line the harder for fish to see. I have caught 10lbs. bass with 4 lbs.test. When using light line be sure to keep drag low to prevent line breaking and to take your time landing the fish. When using the 12 lbs. test or larger you will want to use a 6lbs.test mono filament leader about 16- 20 inches long. I have been using Stren line since the late 70's. I have tried many of the name brands but came back to Stren because it of less problems. Another thing you will want to do is to keep and eye on your line no matter what brand you use near the lure. If you see any nicks or abrasion or feel any abrasion strip off about 6 feet of line and retie. This is where your apt to have line breakage. I always strip
off the last 6 feet when I'm done fishing so the next time I go I'm ready to start fishing. I have fished many different types of water and conditions as well as types of fish with this line.

On my spinning reels I use Trilene Extra Smooth Casting in 12lbs Low Vis Green...it works well for me...but you do have to have a "back" to get rid of line twists...I only use my spinning reel for Shakey Heads/Spot Stickers and weightless flukes....I use my bait casters for everything else...

I like FireLine 6lb or 8lb you can rip there lip's off. FireLine has No stretch, instant strike detection , you can feel em pickup the worm. and cut's weed's

just use a texas rig because they work for all reels

If you have been to a sporting goods store or walmart you probably have noticed there is a WHOLE BUNCH of different line manufacturers out there. Most of the major brands sponsor a professional fisherman who uses their line (for free) They get to use his boat and clothing for advertisement. So most of them are pretty good, or the pro wouldn't be using it. It's just a matter of choice which company you go with, but the size or lb test is determined by what kind of fishing your doing or how big your reel is.

I use a line that is called POWER PRO, it is a braided line. I can spool up a heavier lb test (20 lb) and it's actual size compares to a 8 lb test mono-filament line. It handles the same as the smaller line and is more sensitive to the bite like the smaller line. It is VERY tough, you need scissors to cut it a sharp knife can do it but not as easy as scissors. The down side is if it gets a knot, you might as well cut it out because it is extremely difficult to untie or untangle it. I have some friends who swear by it, and some friends who swear at it and will not use it at all.

I prefer Gamma High Performance Co-Polymer Line. It's a little hard to find in stores, but online go to Cabelas.com. Get the right line weight that applys for your reel and the type of fish you are going for.

I use Trilene, but really anything will work. You could try 8 pound test, to start. The pound test will depend on if you are fishing in open water, or where there is cover for the fish, like weeds. If you are fishing weed, you might want a little heavier line, since you will get snagged a bit there. Also, if you hook one in the weeds, then the fish will probably swim around those weeds, thus you will need more line strength to get them out.

How do you get a golden fishing pole on animal crossing on game cube?

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 4 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
How do you get a golden fishing pole on animal crossing gamecube? I know you have to catch all of the fish, but how, or who gives it to you?

Do you get a fish design on your roof too?

Actually you get the golden rod from Tortimer, after successfully catching all the fish breeds you may speak to him. He will give you the fishing rod as well as a fish weather vane for your house.

I beleive it comes in the mail from Tortimer, but you might have to go to the Wishing Well. I HIGHLY doubt that you get a fish design.

What is the best bait to use when fishing in the everglades?

วันพุธที่ 3 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
I live in florida and am going to go fishing in the everglades. I have two questions.

1. What is the best bait to use when fishing in the everglades

2. What is the best type of fish to fish for

Large shiners. The best fish to fish for would be the Bass. They get pretty big out here and double digit bass is the norm. Use a float or free line them near structure ( Lilly pads, logs, sunken trees, etc.) and hold on tight. I have to tell ya, large shiners are a bit expensive ( depending on area, can run up to 12 bucks a dozen) but worth the money for a memory of a lifetime.~good luck catchin'.

Small blue crabs & shrimp. Snook, tarpon & permit to name a few species. Whatever and however you fish I'm sure you will have an awesome time. Wish I was going with you! Tight lines.

Wow great question, that has endless answers depending on who you talk too.

Florida everglades is known for it's big Black Bass with live shiners ;)

shrimp

sea trout and redfish

salmon eggs and trout

What is the best way to catch fish surf fishing at Myrtle Beach at the end of February?

วันอังคารที่ 2 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
I am headed to Myrtle Beach for just a couple days... I am a freshwater fisherman but would really like to do some surf fishing while there. Normally I would want to target a certain type of fish but since my stay will be so short, I just want to catch some, any kind, of fish. What are my best odds?

Surf Fishing is all about targeting fish that make a living from food that is stirred up by the waves, and tide movement. These fish often dig in the sand or mud for crabs etc. Essentially scavengers!

You need to be able to cast your line approx 40-50 yards, or behind the breaking waves if possible. A local tackle shop might be able to advise you on the best sinker to attach to your line, as the sinker does most of the work when casting out.

Do a search on You Tube as well.

Surf fishing right?

Try plastic worms and grubs. Live bait always works, too. Like King of Fishing said, mullet, crabs, and shrimp.

Not familar with that area though (SoCal, West Coast gal here) but I figure all beaches work the same.

the fish that you could catch are drum, spot, flounder, sharks, rays, and bluefish. use mullet, crabs, shrimp for bait

What is the best pike fishing technique?

วันจันทร์ที่ 1 มิถุนายน พ.ศ. 2552 0
I'm going Pike fishing in the dead stream between Houghton lake, MI and 127. It has murkey waters, with channels about 6-8 ft deep x 20 ft across, running through a flood plain thats almost always has about 2 ft of water in it. What is the best lure or live bait to use? What part of the channel should I fish in? Any tips or tricks? Ive only reeled one pike out of here before, and I took it with a pike minnow. I mostly just wind up with bass or dog fish on my line.

To Sharon: thanks but your answer was just as good.

When you visit the link sharon gave you, read her answer. She says "you will find them in shallow, weedy bays (5-10 feet)" Thats where they are at right now. The hot weather lately has pushed them here. These channels you are talking about should have active pike. Since the there is murky water, go with lures with a lot of flash.

When you go to pick a lure make sure you get one with a lot of flash and go by the phrase 'bigger is better'. Pike can and will run with big lure, dont be afraid to through them because they are and you dont think youll catch anything with it

Try a large jointed floating rapala, one that is 6-9 inches and is a deep runner.. For some reason, pike are generally attracted more to the jointed rapalas than the not jointed ones. I have found this to be true from expierience.

Other things you can try are:

-1. trolling with a spinnerbait

--2. put a hook through a small bluegill, perch, crappie, or shad on a big bobber and through it along a weedline.

---3. Try spoons ex. red devils. This is probably the mst popular way to catch pike.

----4. Senkos or yum dingers. I have caught many northerns on these while going for bass.

-----5. When there are lily pads around or moss on top of water, throw a frog. I perfer a yum buzzfrog. It is an amazing lure. I have tried two colors of these so far and they work wonders. (carolina pumpkin/yellow and watermelon red flake.) I bought mine at meijer so you can get them almost anywhere that sells Yum products. Also buy some Gamagatsu size 4 offset hooks. Make sure the point of the hook is on TOP of the frog not underneath. You can use these any time during the day but at sun up and sun down are the best times due to the low light conditions or when there are lily pads or moss.

now to answer all your questions...

i think a large jointed floating rapala (deep runner is the best lure) and perch and pike minnows are the best live bait.

I would fish the 6-8 feet deep part of the channel

if you do end up with a dogfish, move on down the channel a little bit. Dog fish are teritorial so they will try to find a spot away from bass and pike.

as for the steel leader, if you are using the large floating rapala, you wont need one. Any of the other lures, using one would be a good idea but NOT nessisary. They do take away action from the lure. You need to decide if you'd rather have more action (which brings in more bites) or less bite but a garentee you wont snap your line. Just a matter of preference. You WILL catch pike either way, though. You'll more likely to cath them without the leader.

Good Luck!

Daredevil, Mepps #3, 4 or 5, or a live sucker below a big bobber. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20070627111028AAcraJw&kid=EI51DVvKO01KyOEE.hVE&s=comm&date=2009-01-23+20%3A48%3A10&.crumb=

I would suggest perhaps a nightcrawler harness. Usually they're good for trolling, I would suggest using one, but it sounds like you catch a good amount of fish anyways. I would also suggest that you perhaps get a large in-line spinner lure that has one of those large feather tails. I have no idea what their name is, but I know that a lot of people up north (I'm from NE Indiana) use them. Good luck!

Hi, I answered a similar question yesterday. Here is the link to it. Sexy knows his stuff, his answer was better than mine, I would put some of his suggestions to use when you are fishing for northerns.

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AoLOXwhl0DgV8BaNd7Z1AKzsy6IX?qid=20070626132016AACKm3c&show=7#profile-info-AA10973452

Good luck fishing, and have FUN!

A large minnow, like a shiner or shad, and yes, use a steel leader if you don't want to lose a big one.

You could also throw a daredevil-type spoon.

Good Luck.

How Many pounds of a fish can i catch with a 10-25 pound line test on a ugly stik fishing rod?

วันอาทิตย์ที่ 31 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552 0
I Just Bought a uglystik thats 7 feet tall and says 10-25 pound line im going on a fishing trip to the ocean and expecting to catch a 50 pound fish is this possible and how? Dose a Fish weigh less in water?

You can catch 100 pounders with that line but this is strictly based on your skill. There was a guy who caught a world record Marlin and used only 8 pound test line (monofilament). Just make sure you are using a leader that is double your line strength, you have your drag set at 1/3 the breaking strength of your main line and use sharp hooks. Do fish weigh less in the water, no, it's the same weight . It's just buoyancy that makes things feel lighter when you hold it in the water.~good luck catchin'.

Depends on your skill level. Keep your drag set about medium and when a big fish takes your bait and starts stripping the line and the drag is singing let him take it til he stops then pull back on the pole and reel in the slack. Let him take line when he can and then repeat. Sooner or later he will tire out and you can slowly pull him in. The trick is to not stress the line to the breaking point and you also have to keep him from wrapping line around structure. Have fun. A friend of mine caught a 20 lb. cat on 4 lb. test line with an ultra light one time.

I don't know if you can it would depend on how much experience you have at fighting the fish and wearing it down and getting it to the boat or not.

Here's a little lesson for all the beginners reading this excellent question.

You (everyone) fight the fish with the rod not the reel. you let the back bone of the rod wear the fish out by him pulling the line out and the resistance pulling back. You do not use the reel to fight the fish, you use the reel to bring the line in in order to catch the fish. If you are cranking on the reel while the fish is hot and taking line out making a run you are doing nothing but kinking up your line, have patience. If you kink up the line enough being unpracticed the line weakens and snap you loose the fish. the line (which must be an excellent quality line) is only keeping you in contact with the fish. when the rod is bent and the fish is pumping its tail trying to swim away from you the rod bend and the tip will go down and pretty much stay down until the fish tires, then the tip will come up caused by the lack of resistance (fight) in the fish this is when you start reeling him in. If the tip comes up fast! reel like crazy two things he's coming right at you or he
's unbuttoned.

If the rod says 10-25 pound test line, go with the 25 and don't horse the fish in. Make sure to put a heavy gauged steel leader on your line in case your trying to catch something with some chompers. Good luck!

go 25 lb. line and set your drag. a properly set drag is most important

While fishing, you get bored and start to swing a sinker weight around in a circle below you on a 0.23 m piece

วันพฤหัสบดีที่ 28 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552 0
While fishing, you get bored and start to swing a sinker weight around in a circle below you on a 0.23 m piece of fishing line. The weight makes a complete circle every 0.60 s. What is the angle that the fishing line makes with the vertical?

I had 88.8 degrees but that is not the right answer to this problem. Please help.

length of fishing line 0.23 m is hypoteneus of right angelled triangle in vertical plane with base equal to radius 'r' of circle

Suppose in the vector triangle of forces, fishing line length Lrepresents tension in the line

If height 'h' of triangle represents weight 'mg' of sinker and base 'r' of triangle represents centripetal force F=mv^/r=mr*4*(pi)^2 / T^2

where T is time period =0.60 s

mg/h=mr4(pi)^2/rT^2

h=gT^2/4(pi^2)=9.8*0.6*0.6 / 4*9.87= 0.089 m

suppose fishing line makes angle O with vertical ,then

cosO=h/ L( lenght of line)

cosO=0.089/0.23=0.3885

O=67.13 degree

Angle O with vertical is 67.13 degree

It wouldn't be vertical. It would be "diagonal." and that is why

I would never have you in a boat with me, because, I would

end up with that hook in my eye.

Fishing!!!!?

วันอังคารที่ 26 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552 0
Okay, I live in West Des Moines, IA and lately I have been fishing with some of my friends. Obviously the ice melted about a month ago and I need to know, What is the best way to catch big fishing or catfish in a local pond?????

Toss a nightcrawler (worm) on a hook with a sinker and toss it out. let it sit on the bottom and wait for a tap on the line. set the hook and youre good to go. Pretty easy stuff. Thats the most simple rig I can think of.

Good luck and let the big ones go!!!

Put a sponge on a hook (which you can buy at a store) and soak it in stink bait or put cut hot dogs at room temp and cover in garlic salt :) http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080327153111AAqBVyt&kid=RbZaPFW_J1h4laQVCJC8&s=comm&date=2008-05-14+19%3A13%3A55&.crumb=

Get a can of wet dog food in a can, put small holes in it with a screw driver, tie a rope to it, then throw it far into the water and leave it there and cast your bait by it. The rope is for when your done. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080327153111AAqBVyt&kid=AqdzGmHhVlLv6My004Zk&s=comm&date=2008-06-19+10%3A51%3A07&.crumb=

i have a friend who caught a catfish on hot dogs you gotta go out really late at night to get em cast out to the first sand bar that's where they feed he caught a good 3 footer http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080327153111AAqBVyt&kid=G459LVPrB2t5TtTsJmkA&s=comm&date=2008-07-17+07%3A52%3A12&.crumb=

You say your wanting to catch "big fish". I'd suggest you use live bait such as goldfish, small bluegills and crappie, creek chubs, and even small carp. The flathead catfish love live bait, and as long as they can get it in thier mouth, they will eat it. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/accuse_write?qid=20080327153111AAqBVyt&kid=Mad0JnvgB0RNt.9p2jq_&s=comm&date=2008-10-16+09%3A35%3A39&.crumb=

Shad guts, cut shad, chicken liver, bait shrimp, stink bait. Catfish love that stuff. Dew worms. Do you have bass in the pond? You mentioned "big fish" I like to jig fish with plastic worms for bass. Good luck.

Talk to other fisherman who have caught large fish. Go to the bait store and ask for advise.

Night crawler or chickenliver.

cheese hot dogs ....cut em into pieces ....stank bait

Does anyone know any good fishing wholesalers?

วันจันทร์ที่ 25 พฤษภาคม พ.ศ. 2552 0
I am opening a fishing tackle business and need some wholesales that sell quality fishing gear maybe some brand name and things. Any 1 know any?

Many Thanks

try www.tacklebargains.co.uk www.tackledirect2u.co.uk

The other way is to write to the addresses at the back of packs and get information directly from the manufacturers, as to the companies they sell to, if they are willing to sell to you, how much the minimum order value is etc so you know what prices you will be getting them at.

good luck

This is a bit chicken and egg, I'm afraid. The best place to go is The Tackle & Guns Trade Show (not until October) but you need to prove you are a bona fide trade customer to get a ticket. All the main suppliers will be there - well worth a visit. Meanwhile, try contacting the main brands (Snowbee, Daiwa, etc.) and enquire about opening a trade account. If you have no trading history you may find that there is a large minimum order value and you will have to pay pro-forma for a while (ie pay up front). Best of luck with your venture - retail is not easy, especially at the moment.

hey man, you are doing something that i dream about. one day i hope to open my own bait and tackle shop. already got the name and location picked out and how i even want the store to look on the inside. i acually have a room in my house all painted up and decorated how i would like my store to be these site are the ones that i have looked at and hopefull one day i will be able to do more than look at them. hope this helps you out a bit good luck good fishin be safe and remember to share the experience
